Now that Kid One is living in San Jose, I have a good reason for heading “over the hill” from Santa Cruz more than once in a blue moon. One thing I’ve discovered is that San Jose has done a great job preserving historic signs. I posted this one from Stephen’s Meat Products a while back. Here’s another one from near Kid One’s flat – an old Colonel Sanders bucket marking a KFC and Taco Bell next to Zanotto’s Market near the Rose Garden. I love it for all the food history preserved in just one sign.
And if you’re a fan of KFC bucket signs, I found this website that talks about all the different styles and where they are in the U.S.
They also have a semi preserved original McDonald’s. An actual modern restaurant is attached and the vintage building is a dining area
